Kanazawa University and Kanazawa Medical University - is a large national university that traces its history back to the founding of a small medical school in 1862. Its immediate predecessor was the Fourth Upper High School, one of the elite preparatory schools for the Imperial Universities before the war. Many prominent politicians and other notables were graduates of 'Shiko', as it was known.
Notable personalities:
Sakurai Ryoko, Dean of Students and Student Affairs - 50 years old and a professor of Sociology, she has taken on the responsibility of being the main contact person for university students in need of help or guidance. Failed a test? Drinking way too much? Roommate missing? Think you might be attracted to the "wrong" gender? She's heard it all and dealt with it all. A good resource for when trouble strikes.
Hokuriku University - Hokudai is an academically-challenging small liberal arts college with a business management department specializing in foreign languages (Chinese and English) and a pharmacy department.
Notable personalities:
George Kobayashi, Dean of Foreign Students and International Affairs: 35 years old and a professor of English, he originally hails from California. He is the main contact person for all non-Japanese students attending Hokuriku, and sorts out all of their issues including expired visas, scuffles with the law, running out of money, and anything else that could befall the clueless gaijin during his or her learning sojourn in Kanazawa.
Kanazawa Preparatory Academy - the largest high school in Kanazawa, with a student body of approximately 1000, it is located near the center of town, and easily accessible by public transportation. Many students choose to walk to school, too. It has the usual arrangement of classrooms, sports fields, science and IT labs, a library, a cafeteria, and even a small student lounge for spending break periods.
Notable personalities:
Kimiko Yuki, Homeroom teacher, class 3-1: 25 years old, she is a recent graduate of Tokyo National University, who returns to her hometown to teach. Full of vigor and new enthusiasm, she aims to make her classroom the best place to be in all of KPrep.
Nagase Nagisa, Homeroom teacher, class 4-4: 30 years old, she has been a homeroom teacher for the last seven years and knows her way around the school. She is idolized by the boys in her class because of the most attractive way in which she dresses.
Junes Department Store - The fast-expanding Junes chain has maintained one of its superstores in Kanazawa for the last ten years, right on the border of the city and the surrounding suburbs . It offers a complete selection of food, clothing, housewares, sporting goods, electronics, and almost everything else. It also hosts an in-store cafe which serves drinks and snacks 24/7. As the company jingle goes, "Every day's great at your Junes!"

Easy with a smile, she is always a welcome face for late-night partyers catching a bite to eat before stumbling off to their apartments.
Tatemachi shopping street - Located downtown, this is the main commerical and entertainment area for Kanazawa, with everything on sale and plenty of cafes, restaurants, movie theaters, and specialty shops. Stores like Kohrinbo 109 sell the latest fashions, and the Belsel Building is an otaku's shopping paradise. The local police station and many tourist hotels are also located on this street.

Kusano Usagi, Pharmacist: 32 years old, he maintains an independent drugstore ("USA GI" - complete with quirky American kitsch decking the walls) which stocks all manner of healing and performance enhancing goods. An amateur homeopath, he always has a recommendation for this or that herbal diet pill.
Nomoura Kouji, Belsel shopkeeper: 28 years old and a true otaku in every sense of the word, he maintains the register at the Belsel Building, offering critiques and advice on customer purchases (whether you want it or not) ranging from the latest underground doujin to exactingly detailed, semi-legal "replicas" of popular anime weapons and armor.
Sgt. Murai Kunio, Police Station desk officer: 25 years old, he was a formerly troubled high schooler who found a proper path in life thanks to a good teacher. As a policeman, he is bound by constraints of the law, but at the same time recognizes that something evil is happening in Kanazawa, and will try to aid anyone who wants to stop it.
Kenrokuen Garden - One of the "three most beautiful gardens in Japan," it is the most famous part of the city, it boasts over 25 acres of trees, ponds, flowers, and waterfalls. Just outside of the gardens is Ishikawa-mon, the "Black Gate" leading to the partially-restored ruins of Kanazawa Castle.

Miyamori Sho, Curator and gardener: 70 years old, he has been the groundskeeper for this historic site for a very long time. He knows all manner of secrets about the gardens, including the best places for high schoolers to hook...nevermind.
