Questions are in black, answers are in brown.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Q1) Are the Bastards the remains of the ruined civilization of the Mother? >.>; or a separate group?
A1) It is believed that Mother never had a human civilisation. It is also believed that the settlers had died. The general belief was that if the invaders were the settlers they would not have attacked Zell, so the first belief had been crossed as FALSE by Zell.
So the belief is now that the Pretenders are a civilisation of the Mother, though nobody in Zell is clear on their history like how long they've been around and etc.
But note that the belief of the settlers dying out had never been confirmed in one way or another (there seems to be a lot of assumptions going on). It is simply a theory that Zell and Zellians had taken for granted as the truth (communications were lost and Zellians could not cross the Devil's Fang), not withstanding the possible involvement of political plays.
Q2) What's the landscape like, and what's the name of the capital of Zell? Also, are we free to play members of the nobility, and invent their families to an extent? I'm writing up an ambitious middle-aged inventor from the Order of the Moon, a la Dr. Cid from FFXII. XD He seems like a perfect character for this type of setting.
A2) Child's landscape is mostly prairie (grasslands, savannas, shrublands etc), with woodlands sprinkled across. It doesn't have many mountains or hills. It's basically very grassy.
Mother is like the opposite; it's got forests, jungles, and is very mountainous, many hills around. Many swamps too.
And yep, you are free to play nobilities and even the royalties, and you can invent their family members and extension.
I haven't got a good name for the capital. If you have one just go ahead with it. I will update on it.
Q3) Is there a governing body in the Kingdom of Zell? Since there are knights, scientists, and priests/priestess, is there a governing faction that the people of Zell answer to that is in charge of maintaining order of the kingdom?
Oh and what's the layout of the Kingdom of Zell? Does it have an inner city and outer city? Does it have cities? Well surely at least one, the capital city of Leshach Manse. Is this the hub of all activity ie commerce, education, politics, and ilicit:D LoL sorry for the barrage of questions.
A4) Zell is ruled by a monarchy that happens to have real power. It has cities, of course, but the capital is the largest and most prosperous (naturally!). There are also towns and villages dotted over.
It's quite a normal and large city (imagination! ), serving as the headquarters of all three Orders.
Q5) Where should I send my bio?
A5) My PM. My inbox is open for 24 hours a day, always available.
Q6) What are the inheritance laws like?
For example, can a woman inherit the family estate or does it automatically go to any male heir?
A6) A woman can inherit. They have sufficient respect for women. ^__^
Q7) Are we all expected to play citizens of the Kingdom of Zell?
Also: What is magic like? Only certain people have it? Are there multiple kinds? Learned or inbred, etc etc.
A7) No. It will be great if we can have someone on the other side (Zeal) too.
Most people have innate magic potential, but it's an acquired ability that must be learnt, meaning people must be schooled in it. Most people, especially the poorer civilians would not have access to such a privilege, and it is one that has to be paid. It is not cheap, either. This is for Zell, but things might be more open for Zeal.
There are many kinds of magic, and players are encouraged to be as creative as possible in this aspect. For example, my character Kaia Larkville excels at magic that manipulates the natural environment that otherwise presents limitations to her. That said, people have different suitability to different types of magic - some may excel at offensive magicks, others may be better at healing spells.
